We live in a beautiful world full of gorgeous pathways, roads, rocks, rivers, bridges, buildings, skylines, sunsets, clouds, cliffs, flowers, fabrics, textures and trees. I've written about taking photos of bridges before and how the world of 'in between' fascinates me. I also love taking photos of cities / urban landscapes and buildings with character, however I try to avoid taking photos of strangers without permission, which means a good photo (without people in it!) can be a drama to plan.
I went out for a Photo Walk last weekend and found myself focusing not on bridges or buildings but on trees and branches. It was late in the afternoon and starting to get dark, which means the contrast between the darker trees and the lighter sky behind it was easier to capture (and a lot less grainy!) than landscapes or nature scenes.

The original photos felt rather bland and washed out, so I decided to give them a splash of colour and a bit of depth, drama and flair. I'm sharing an original and an edited image today - The original photo was fine but not 'amazing' and certainly didn't pop - The second photo definitely does!
I like the two smaller branches that meet up in the top left corner of the photo as if trying to form a star (or perhaps to say hi and exchange pleasantries, who can tell?) It gives the branches an almost sculpted or planned look, as if nature itself decided to show off for the photo. There was enough wind to move the branches around which means I only noticed the 'shape' when editing - quite a nice little present for this photographer!
As for the colour - I am certainly not a 'girly girl' however when it comes to colouring the sky I love purples and pinks! I'm very happy with the edited image - it may even be my favourite of the two!
