New Year, New Photography Challenges

While I usually really enjoy taking photos and sharing them, I've barely taken any photos at all the past few months. Sure, I've got plenty of excuses I can use. It's cold outside. I've been reading a lot. I haven't felt like taking photos. Editing my photos to hide the spots and scratches on my lens is a real pain. I've been experiencing a winter dip. All these excuses are true yet when I took my camera out for a play-date recently, I realised how much I'd missed scouting for shots with my trusty friend. It was fun to traipse through the mud trying to find the right angle or the so-called perfect shot and doing my best to showcase the beauty of my surroundings. It was good to remind myself that even though there are no roaring rivers or majestic mountains near where I live here in The Netherlands, it is still a beautiful country with a lot of charming and scenic locations.

So... I've decided that it is most definitely a good thing to remind myself of the beauty of my surroundings every once in a while. I'm not going to commit myself to sharing photos every week - as that began to feel too much like a chore instead of a fun activity last year - however sharing photos at least once a month is definitely something I am ready and willing to commit to. As I'm writing this, I'm thinking that it could be fun to go back to a certain area at least once a month, stand in the same spot and take photos of the same tree / field / wall / whatever, however I'm still debating that part with myself. Either way - I plan to write at least twelve Photo Challenge posts this year, the first of which will be posted here before the end of the month. Whether I'll choose specific topics or simply go with the flow is another question I don't yet know the answer to. Right now, all I know is that I'm happy with my decision to write a Photo Challenge post every month and that I'm enjoying outings with my camera again. As for the rest... Only time will tell! Check back later this month for the first Photo Challenge post of 2016!
