Doctor Who Scarves

Whereas one Doctors like bow ties and fez's  another had a thing for scarves. Very cool looking and awesome scarves too! While thinking about a new knitting project the idea of knitting a Doctor Who scarf crossed my mind. I bought knitting needles a few weeks ago, so am pretty much ready to go. As soon as I've finished deciding what I want to knit so I know what wool to buy, that is.

I learnt to knit when I was about nine or ten and sadly never quite progressed from the "this is how you make a scarf that looks like a 9-year old made it" stage. This means I need to start with a simple project - one of the many reasons why a Doctor Who scarf is a logical first place to start! It's got large blocks of colour which makes the knitting easier and is eclectic-looking enough that a few "smudges" in the places one colour touches another won't be a problem.

Having decided on what to knit, I need to get the specifics down as well. There are several different Doctor Who scarf designs and I need to investigate which I want to recreate. I've only been a Doctor Who fan since the restart of the program in 2005, so have no preference for a particular scarf based on a specific episode or storyline. This means that I'm going to be looking at a) which colours and designs I like best, b) how available the patterns are and if they make sense to me and c) if I can buy all the colours I need.

As a proper Google addict, I typed "Doctor Who scarf" into the trusty search engine and came up with lots of amazing pictures and some even more amazing websites.

Check out the website Doctor Who Scarf for some amazingly detailed information about the various Doctor Who scarves. I will definitely be coming back to this website!

Another website that looks like it is going to be very useful is the How To Knit beginner's guide to knitting at The Knit Tree. This set of instructions is meant to get you ready to make your very own Doctor Who scarf. Ready-made and easy to understand instructions for the beginning (again) knitter wanting to make her very own Doctor Who scarf - yes please!

I hope you too will find a project that you'll enjoy working on! Remember - whatever it may be, make sure you have fun doing it!
